I would like to know "List of active NON-SMS disk volumes active on the lpar (disk with datasets on). This doesn’t include SPARE volumes".

Do we have any display command for this? I want to list all the NON-SMS volume information into a dataset.

Use DCOLLECT.

Although the key question is why are you not talking to your site's storage management group about this?

Thank you for your suggestion. I will try to read DCOLLECT.

To generate a list of volumes you can use ISMF (if it is available). Off the main panel select - 2 VOLUME then 1 DASD to generate a list. You will want a physical and use PF8 to add additional filtering. Select the Physical Status EQ NONSMS.

The solution given by Robert has worked for me. I am reading the same froM DCOLLECT. Yes, I am comfertable thru ISMF but here I want to listt all the names in a dataset inorder to use in my further programs.

With this I hope we can close this topic as my requirement is fulfilled.
