Postby sudip » Tue Feb 08, 2011 2:28 pm

What can be the reason for record count change in Alternate index file? One of my alternate index file record count differs from the base vsam file.

You can choose between two reasons

the alternate index is not unique, You have duplicates
solution, check the application description and <data> layout/requirements and just meditate
be happy that You were enlightened

the alternate index is unique, You clobbered Your data
solution, check the application description and <data> layout/requirements and rebuild the index
worry about your process

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

Really this is a VSAM question and should hve been posted there.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.
