Hello Subha and welcome to the sorums,
Started tasks are initiated by a "start" command rather than being intiated by the submission of a JOB.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

An address space that runs unattended as the result of a START command. Started tasks are generally used for critical applications. The UNIX equivelent is a daemon.

Subha123, if you have a need to know about similar topics, I'd recommend that you read the document from IBM titled "z/OS Basics".
