Custom edit line commands

Postby LotharLochkarte » Mon Oct 10, 2011 7:34 pm

Hi,

I want to try out the new z/OS feature to use custom line commands in edit mode.

When I follow the instructions given http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/ispzem90/2.1.1.4?DT=20110531222733#HDRWQ71, I always get the message: "Command not recognized" when I try to use the new line command while editing a DataSet.

I have no idea what is going wrong there... Does somebody have a clue?

Thanks a lot!

Have no idea about this yet, but did you logoff logon after the changes? I would imagine that the table is in storage and after a logoff logon you would load the new table.

Yes, I did a logoff and a logon afterwards, but it didn't help...

The ISPF editor provides the ability for a site or user to define a set of line commands which will invoke associated ISPF editor macros when the line commands are executed.

I'd read this as implying that there are several levels at which this could be done, including blocking it happening at all. If you dig in the manual a bit more, maybe it will tell you what the default situation is. Or just talk to technical support and see if it is available to the individual user to customise.

ok, I forgot to fill out the field "Line Command Table" in the edit entry panel.. :-)

Now it works, but I is there a possibility to "allocate" a line command table on the fly? For example if I open a DataSet in EditMode via 3.4, how can I use custom line commands there?

Thanks!

I use the approach of dynamically add entries to the command tables at the start of My ispf session
see my last post here
http://ibmmainframes.com/about56254.html

I do not have a 1.13 environment available but the process might be the same
both for the command table and the line command table

to see the table layout issue the export command when browsing the table
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort
