SDSF DA PANEL...SERVER indicator

Postby jrueg » Wed Sep 09, 2009 2:49 am

Does anyone know what the SERVER indicator field is on the SDSF Display Active panel. Some of my address spaces say yes and others no. I know it has something to do with WLM but it is unclear to me and I have performed several searches IBMLINK and google and come up empty handed :?:
Thanks much!

Hello and welcome to the forum,

On the sdsf panel where you see SERVER, press F1 and see if this helps - you may need to scroll around.

I'm not on a mainframe at the moment and cannot run a test just now. . .
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

The SDSF manual says: Server indicator (resource goals are not being honored) (RMF)

I have read the SDSF Customizatin and Operation manual as well as the help. I still don't understand what is meant by resource goals are not being met? I've opened an issue with IBM but since I don't have Q & A support they seem unwilling to clarify the documentation.

Read about Workload Management (WLM) to see what is meant by goals and resources and the classification of work.

I found the answer. The Server indicator shows whether an address space is being WLM managed to Address Space goals (ie STC) or Subsystem goals(CICS/IMS/DB2 etc transaction). Server NO indicates Address space goals , YES indicates subsystem goals.
Thanks for all the feedback!!
