Linux OS connection to mainframe

Postby jaggz » Thu Jan 06, 2011 11:31 am

Hi,

We are trying to establish a connection to mainframe from LINUX OS. Are there any documents where we can follow the steps and establish the connection.

in IT using exact terminology is essential for effective communication!
define better Your requirement!

what type of communication,
what basic facilities have to be enabled ( FTP, NFS, ... )
what advanced facilities/products have to be enabled ( DRDA, MQ, ... )
IBM redbooks might be a good start
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

What machine is your Linux running on - PC, Mainframe, whatever??
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

Are you trying to connect to a z/OS system on the Mainframe from a PC running Linux?

Or you have z/OS PLUS z/Linux on the same Mainframe (in two LPARs) or your z/Linux is running under z/VM on another LPAR?

Are you talking about a TCP/IP connectivity between Systems, or simply asking for a way to telnet?

your question is not clear.
If I told you, Mossad would have to kill you :)
