Hi, Users have been complaining that (only) occasionally their FTP in to our z/VM system hangs.. looking at the FTPAUDIT logs I see :
2017-12-06 03:50:55 $FPAYRP 162.53.56.3 NLST Cmdarg: *, dir: SFS VMSYSU:SYSSERV.FTP.$FPAYRP.
...
2017-12-06 03:58:07 $FPAYRP 162.53.56.3 Session terminated by ABORTED
yesterday I see that there were over 50 of these Session terminated by ABORTED issues, for variouse users

2017-12-07 08:00:05 WFNGFIN 172.20.44.2 LIST Cmdarg: ACCARUPW.ZIP, dir: SFS VMSYSU:FNCSERV.WFNGFIN.
..
2017-12-07 08:00:19 WFNGFIN 172.20.44.2 Session terminated by ABORTED

or
2017-12-07 06:15:28 $FPAYNDL 172.20.37.2 Receiving WG00DOER.63900, 432042 bytes
2017-12-07 06:15:28 $FPAYNDL 172.20.37.2 Session terminated by ABORTED

There are no TCPIP error messages, nor in the FTPSERVE log. Ther4e is no indication (other than no other messages) that this is a z/VM (FTP? SFS?) error, or whether it is from the client end.. or the network.

I have been unable to find this message in any manual, nor by doing web searches.

Does anyone know what this may indicate?

I forgot to mention that these users routinely do successfully completed FTPs every day .. in one user's case, one every minute or so.
