If you really want to help other people, please be more patient.
This is really not easy question. I had read many materials on Internet, but there is no detail explanation for difference between those 2 codepage.
Many days ago, I had tried upload a file from PC to Host by FTP. This file contains some special chinese characters such as 睄(EBCDIC Hex Value:a57d), 睉(EBCDIC Hex Value:a582).
During FTPing, when I used following commands, the conversion was failed.
QUOTE SITE ENCODING=MBCS
QUOTE SITE MBDATACONN=(IBM-1388,IBM-5488)
However, when I used following commands, the conversion was successful.
QUOTE SITE ENCODING=MBCS
QUOTE SITE MBDATACONN=(IBM-1388,IBM-1386)

Therefore, I guess IBM-1386 contains more characters than IBM-5488. But I can not find materials to verify it. Or there is possible other difference that I don't understand.
