I have a job which has GDG files .Job has 4 generations of GDG files .If abend occured at some step then when i restart the job what precaution measures need to be taken.

The main precaution is realizing that the newly created GDG files will have changed their relative generation number and the JCL must be changed before restarting. If the original job created GDG(+4) before the error, it is now (0) if it is referred to in a later step on the restart. Earlier GDGs created in the original job are (-1), (-2), etc.
