Dick/Folks -

Can you'll point me and mfgeta to a Manual, which contains IMS DB Commands and Utilities. I am a novice at IMS, and have joined the Message Boards, and seek to share knowledge and learn lots more.

Thank You

mfgeta and folks,

By looking up the manuals, as directed by Dick and Jag, I did experiment with the /DISPLAY DATABASE and /DISPLAY DB Commands. However, I still cannot figure out where, I need to enter these commands. I tried to find this from the IBM Manual, but it didn't help either.

I tried entering the commands on the Master Console, but in vain, I got IEE305I Messages, stating that the DISPLAY Command was not valid. Here's the screen-print of the same.

Please advise. Thank you very much.

hi Quasar,

you have to work this command on IMS region according to your system. i have tried this command from our IMS/DB region it worked for me.According to your below screenshot you please check whether your environment supports IMS DB/IMS DCCTL.If it is IMS DB

Try to check these commands in following ways:
1. Login to separate ims region and work these commands.
2. Try these commands with IMS subsytem name in master console.

please help me if anyone know the solution for my below query .

i tried to check the segments of the database using file manager in DLI mode ( In dynamic PSB), i am getting below error. kinldy advice me on this problem.

DYNACB parameter for IMS region IMS9 was not specified in FMN1POPI. To use
dynamic PSBs this parameter must be specified.

where i have to specify this parameter.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

If you have ims v 10, you should be able to use this after making changes needed for your environment:
//BATCSPOC JOB ,
//   MSGCLASS=H,NOTIFY=USR1,USER=USR1
//* BATCH SPOC JCL FOLLOWS
//SPOC     EXEC PGM=CSLUSPOC,PARM=('IMSPLEX=PLEX1')
//STEPLIB   DD DISP=SHR,DSN=IMS.SDFSRESL
//SYSPRINT  DD SYSOUT=*,
//   DCB=(RECFM=FB,LRECL=121,BLKSIZE=2420,DSORG=PS)
//SYSIN     DD *
 QRY TRAN NAME(A*,B*,C*) SHOW(ALL)
 QRY DB   NAME(A*)
//*

None of my systems run IMS, so i've not tested this - i got it from someone else.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

I am a newbie to IMS. You've asked me to logon to the IMS Region. I presume that, this would be the region where the IMS* Jobs run. I can see the following jobs running.

On which screen, do you want me to enter the IMS Commands? My understanding is these are the IMS DB Jobs. I haven't read much about DCCTL Environment, although I have come across the term before. Could you send me or post a screenshot, on how you've managed to enter the IMS Commands. Apologise for the naive question.

Thank you very much to both of you and appreciate your help.

hi quasar,

AS per your screenshot, your environment deals with IMS/DB.

use the below command to login ims db region :
LOGON APPLID=IMS81CR1

after logon give your credentials and then work with IMS commands.

From my knowledge i worked with few IMS commands.

sample for u:

/DIS DB ALL

DATABASE TYPE TOTAL UNUSED TOTAL UNUSED ACC CONDITIONS
CIDB UP STOPPED, NOTOPEN, NOTINIT
DBFSAMD1 MSNR
DBFSAMD2 MSRF
DBFSAMD3 DEDB SEQ DEPEND DIRECT ADDRES UP NOTOPEN
CUSDB AREA N/A N/A N/A N/A NOTOPEN
DBFSAMD4 DL/I UP NOTOPEN, ALLOCS
DI21PART DL/I UP NOTOPEN
IVPDB1 DL/I UP NOTOPEN, ALLOCS
IVPDB1I DL/I UP NOTOPEN, ALLOCS
IVPDB2 DL/I UP NOTOPEN, ALLOCS
IVPDB3 DEDB SEQ DEPEND DIRECT ADDRES UP NOTOPEN
DFSIVD3A AREA N/A N/A N/A N/A NOTOPEN
DFSIVD3B AREA N/A N/A N/A N/A NOTOPEN
IVPDB4 MSNR
*10315/122924*

Thanks ,
Mfgeta.
