Hi,

Need help to Upgrading programs from Enterprise COBOL Version 3.4 to 5.1

Do any one have exact difference between COBOL version 3.4 & 5.1.

I am looking for COBOL program difference
1) What all possible warning and error message we will get when we compile COBOL code of 3.4 in COBOL compiler 5.1?
2) What all statements/syntax it accept in 3.4 but not in 5.1?
3) What is the alternative way to replace unaccepted statements/syntax in 5.1 and if any reserve words?

I'm sure that IBM are assisting in your upgrade. If you have further questions, there will certainly be some team at your site working on this, and anything they can't handle they will pass on to IBM, or tell you how to do that. Other than that, you hire a consultant. If working remotely is OK, let me know

I saw this link, but it gives just the information about Version 5.1. But I am looking for the actual difference and comparison between unaccepted statements/syntax of 5.1 to 3.4 versions.

You have to do more than see the link. You have to look at the document as well. The whole purpose of the document is for migration from earlier Enterprise COBOLs (a limited number of them, but including yours) to Enterprise COBOL V5.1.

Unless paid, I'm not going to read the manual to you.

Well, when you paste it from the Migration Guide, make sure you give proper references and credit.

You will at least have to do the work to generate the diagnostic messages. I don't think it necessary, but it's the requirement.

Why should we when you can find the Enterprise COBOL 5.1 Migration Guide manual with a Google search?
