Dataset in use

Postby Black_orange » Mon Nov 07, 2011 8:45 pm

Hi all!
I have a problem. When I want to open or edit a data set MY.DATASET, I get a message that "Data set in use". How fix this problem?
Thanks

Find out what's using the data set and either cancel that job / user id / whatever, or wait until the other job / user id / whatever is through with the data set. Be careful if using split-screen TSO that you don't attempt to edit it in both sessions -- that won't work.

I don't know if it works everywhere, in every shop, but... Where I work, if you see that message in ISPF, you can press PF1. It will give you a longer message saying the same thing. Then, if you press PF1 again, it will list the userid's of the people or jobs that are using the file.

If you are allowed to issue console commands you can enter:
D GRS,RES=(SYSDSN,dsn)
