You typically do not get to choose. . . Someone senior will direct which is to be used until you become one of these providers of direction.
If you become fluent with both, you will find that they may either be used for most requirements.
Some organizations insist that certain types of requirement be implemented in one language or the other. These "standards" are completely site-specific and you will need to learn the rules of your organization.
