There is no "OMIT command" in JCL. Did you find it in the JCL Language Refernce manual? I didn't - at least not in the version I have.

OMIT command in SORT. Just searched in google as OMIT command in JCL.

Nic, I am expecting an answer, not a question again and again. As i already told i am beginner to JCL. Can anyone explain the meaning of strings which is used inside the bracket of Include and OMIT. INCLUDE COND=(1,1,CH,EQ,C’A’) and OMIT COND=(1,1,CH,EQ,C’A’) . what is 1,1,CH,EQ,C’A’ ?

Dhana-chan, you are apparently not only new to JCL (which this is not), but to IT in general. Knowing now that this is a *Sort question (and I don't recall your having mentioned what sort product your shop uses), have you read the appropriate manual? If not, do so.

Right - you keep on about things that are not JCL (Job Control Language) but are sort control cards. I am going to move this topic to the DFSort part of the forum but if you have a different sort product (see the messages produced byt the sort product) let us know and I will move it to the more appropriate part of the forum.

Isn't it time the moderators "OMIT" this topic, or the harroputz little bok going around in circles, longer that it would have taken to design a proper solution?

Nic, You can move the Topic to SORT.

No - there is no sort product on the mainframe called 'sort'. You have the choice between DFSort or Syncsort. To find out which do not look at the JCL which may say EXEC PGM=SORT. SORT in this case is an alias to the real name. You need to look at the messages produced by the sort product when it is executed. Look at someone elses sort execution, if you do not have one to hand, and look at the first few lines.

There are some other sort products but they are rarely seen.
