DB2 performance tuning

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the basic steps for performance tuning? I mean what all parameters, steps need to be taken care?
I have not involved anytime in performance tuning task, but i have been asked this question in interview.

Pls anyone tell me step by step procedure. I have searched in net, but not getting clear understanding.

The correct answer in your situation is that you have never been involved in a db tuning exercise. This is quite legitimate unless you were going for a job where such knowledge was an advertised requirement.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.
