get ECSA key 7 storage under CICS

Postby TopMagic » Thu Oct 18, 2018 3:01 pm

Hi all,

Hello everyone, I'm a new commer.
I try to get ECSA key 7 storage under CICS, I can to that in batch program by using STORAGE OBTAIN/FREE macro; but I read some articles say the GETMAIN/FREEMAIN macro should not be used under CICS, I guess this rule applys to storage obtain as well?
so there any way to achieve that purpose - get ECSA key 7 storage under CICS? or it's no possible?
Many thanks!

do not post the same question more than once
the question is related only and only to the CICS environment,no reason to post it anywhere else

the topics with the same content in the assembler section was already deleted TWICE
cheers

so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

There is a long discussion on IBM-MAIN about this very topic. Did you post your query there, too? If so, this thread needs to be locked. And what you asked is certainly NOT a question for a "Forum for Mainframe Beginners".

Rob Scott's comment seem particularly relevant:
The book goes on to say that the application requesting IFI0306 must be
executing in key0.

CICS is NOT the correct environment for this work.

You either need a separate authorized jobstep program, or some sort of PC
routine service to invoke the IFI0306 request.

The minute you go into key0, all concepts of "easy" coding vanish and you are
one instruction away from an unscheduled IPL.
So I would say if it can be done at all, it will not be an easy thing to do and it could easily lead to system problems.
