hi ,
i was trying to copy data from mainframe screen to pc it was getting error messag as

i was tried through the option 3.7

1 ISPF C/S
2 Data Set
here i was selected 1 by pressing enter it asks ip address and login and password
by giving above details it shows above error msg
so is there any other way to copy mainframe screen to our pc

Did you see the warning on the screen that says using FTP requires a workstation server? Almost no desktop PC machines run server software and most sites prohibit server software on desktop machines. Since your desktop is not a server, you cannot open it in an FTP session -- hence the error message you got.

To get the data from the mainframe to the pc, you can "pull" the data to the pc rather than "push" it from the mainframe. . .

I'm going to rephrase Mr. Scherrer's English to try to make things a little clearer.

Mr. Sample said most PCs do not have an FTP "server" installed on the machine; in fact many sites forbid the casual installation of an FTP server on client systems. Having done this, I cannot argue about the wisdom of this policy. This means you cannot use a mainframe FTP "client" to transfer data from the mainframe to your PC.

There are two things you can do.

Almost all Windows machines have a line mode FTP "client" installed on the machine that operates within the Windows command prompt application. IF your site runs the MVS FTP server - not all do - you can use the Windows FTP client to signon to the mainframe FTP server and transfer your data that way.

Almost all 3270 emulator programs have a file transfer process that you can use to transfer data. It is usually called from a drop down menu in the application; the exact details depend on the 3270 emulator. The IBM PCOMM 3270 emulator also provides the TRANSMIT and RECEIVE commands you can use in a Windoze command prompt window. Well, it did 12 years ago, the last time I used PCOMM; I presume it still does. The 3270 file transfer is not real fast, paricularly compared with FTP, but it gets the job done. As with the command prompt FTP client, the file transfer is requested by the PC, not by the mainframe

by clicking on transfer it shows option
send
receive
configure
ftp

here i was not unable select the option FTP but i can able to select other option send,receive,configure
by slecting these options i can able to open other window

If this is data on a "3270" screen, simply copy/paste the data on the screen into a reply and then apply the Code tag to preserve alignment. There is a Prefiew function so you can see your post the way it will appear to the forum (rather than how it looks in the reply editor). When it looks as you want, Submit.

Many of the users here are not permitted to download attachments. . .

Suggest you also consider using the ftp client (rather then the terminal emulator) on your pc to download the file from the mainframe. . .

What is not clear with this?

When the data you want to post is on your screen, highlight the entire screen (top left to bottom right), right-clidk and Copy. Then go to a reply for the forum, right-click and Paste. Then highlight the info in the reply and click Code. Then click Preview and you will see your post as it will appear to the forum. Then Submit when your post liike like you want.
