PC to Mainframe

Postby toms003 » Thu Sep 03, 2009 3:03 am

I need to transfer a file regularly to a mainframe, from which that file can be downloaded regularly by another company. At the moment we have applications that recieve files regularly from this mainframe through some some utility programes. Unfortunately I can't use that utility because SNA won't work on the windows 2003 server. So how can I transfer the file automatically/regualary to the mainframe for which we have the site id?

Hello,

If your pc has tcp/ip software, one of the components would be an ftp client.

Suggest you ask your desktop or network support what is available on your pc. You might also go to the DOS prompt and enter ftp to see if this is available.

If ftp is available, you would need the name or ip address of the mainframe ftp service and an id (usually your tso logon id).
Hope this helps,
d.sch.
