Identify device by photo

Postby trengri » Mon Jan 07, 2019 1:11 am

This is a photo of S/360 Model 40 from IBM website:

Can someone recognize the device in the center of the room (behind the console typewriter)?

Certainly I can recognize the tapes, a 2540 reader/punch, a 1052 console typewriter, but that device in the center of the room... Maybe a paper tape reader/punch? Anyone old enough to remember?

Although I can see the link when I edit the original post. Maybe a problem with my Firefox setup?

edit: Probably Firefox as I see it in Edge.

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort
