Hi All,

I must really thank everyone for a precise and clear explanation. Are there any Freewares which does a JCL check like EJCK,JCLPREP etc.

Hello,

Does your system use ROSCOE (an editor from CA)? ROSCOE has a builtin JCL checker (JCK).

And TYPRUN=SCAN is on every mvs, z/OS system i've ever used.

Something to be aware of is that most organizatons do not keep the JCL checker current and often diagnostics are generated that are not a problem when run.

You might look on the "CBT tape" to see if there is anything that will do what you want.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

another way of doing a jcl check is to run the job! first have a step at the front that will try to excute a non-existent program, if your job fails s806 then your jcl is fine. this does a more thorough jcl check than typrun=scan.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.
